Brass Band
Brass Band CCA develops students’ musical talents through learning brass and percussion instruments while fostering values such as commitment, perseverance, and teamwork. Members gain valuable performance experience and grow in confidence, leadership, and musicianship.
Objectives
Brass Band members will be developed holistically across three key areas:
Skills:
Build musical skills through instrumental mastery, ensemble techniques, and cultivate listening abilities, rhythm, pitch accuracy, and sight-reading capabilities whilst build performance confidence and stage presence.
Values:
Cultivate core values such as discipline, resilience and perseverance as they tackle challenging pieces together. As an ensemble, they develop teamwork, mutual respect and a deep appreciation for music and the arts.
Leadership:
Build confidence, communication and mentoring skills as section leaders support, guide and inspire their juniors to contribute to performances.

Programme Highlights
Our band members have a wide range of performance opportunities at school, national, and community events. They showcase their talents at key school events such as Prize Giving Day, participate in national platforms such as the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation, and perform at prestigious venues including the Istana during National Day celebrations. Through exchange programmes with bands from local and international schools such as New Town Secondary School and Yunshang (China), students collaborate with fellow musicians, broaden their musical experiences, and develop a deeper appreciation for music and culture.

Student Experience
“When I was first assigned to Band as my CCA in P3, it was not my first choice so I thought I will not enjoy it compared to playing sports. After months of practice, I got better and better, and realised that I actually had a hidden talent for playing the trombone. Playing music is not boring but beautiful!” – Peng Yuda
“Band has helped me become more self-directed because during sectionals, we have to find out what we don't know and seek help from our section leaders. I also learnt empathy because we help our section members who don't know how to play their parts.” – Aden Tham
