Basketball
Basketball CCA is committed to developing students of strong character and integrity through the sport. In a safe, competitive, and dynamic environment, our players of all abilities build strong basketball fundamentals while cultivating discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and critical thinking
Objectives
In Basketball, the boys will be developed in these three key areas:
Skills:
Develop core skills including lay-ups, shooting using the BEEF principles (Balance, Eyes, Elbow, Follow-through), ball handling, footwork, passing, and defensive techniques. Players also learn strategic plays and game awareness, enabling them to make sound decisions and work effectively as a team during matches.
Values:
Demonstrate sportsmanship by respecting teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials, while playing with integrity and humility. Through teamwork, they learn to communicate, trust one another, and work together towards a common goal. Above all, they demonstrate resilience by staying determined, bouncing back from setbacks, and growing stronger through every challenge.
Leadership:
Provided with authentic leadership opportunities through roles such as Captains, Vice-Captains, Equipment In-charge, and Level In-charge. They lead by example, organise equipment, support training and competitions, and guide their teammates. Taking on these responsibilities enables the student leaders to build confidence, strengthen their leadership skills, and support and motivate their teammates.

Programme Highlights
Training Sessions
Weekly basketball training focuses on developing fundamental skills such as ball handling, passing, shooting, footwork, and defence through progressive drills and game-based activities. Players also build teamwork, communication, and game awareness as they apply their skills in small-sided games and match play.
National School Games (NSG)
Selected basketball players represent the school in the National School Games (NSG), where they compete against other schools while demonstrating teamwork, resilience, discipline, and sportsmanship. Through the competition, they gain valuable match experience, strengthen their game awareness, and strive for excellence both on and off the court.
Friendly Matches & Carnivals
Players participate in friendly matches to apply their skills in a game setting, build teamwork and communication, and gain valuable match experience. These matches provide opportunities to learn from different opponents, develop confidence, and improve game awareness in a supportive and sportsmanlike environment.

Students’ Experiences
“Through consistent training, I have improved my positioning on the court, enabling me to create better scoring opportunities and contribute more effectively to my team during matches.” – Teo Kim Gwee Eddy
“Basketball CCA has taught me to never give up, seize every opportunity to win the loose ball, and fight until the final whistle. Through these experiences, I have learnt the importance of resilience, determination, and always giving my best. I will apply the same mindset to overcome challenges, stay focused, and persevere in my studies.” – Wang Haojia
