Our Goals 

1. Develop musical skills and understanding – Equip students with the ability to listen, sing, play, create, and perform music. 

2. Foster creativity and self-expression – Provide opportunities for students to communicate thoughts, ideas, and emotions through music. 

3. Nurture cultural appreciation – Expose students to local and global music traditions to deepen their understanding of cultural diversity and heritage. 

4. Support holistic development – Build character, values, and social-emotional well-being through collaborative and expressive musical experiences. 

5. Encourage lifelong engagement with music – Inspire students to develop an enduring interest, enjoyment, and participation in music beyond school. 

Our Approach 

1. Child-centered and inclusive – Based on the belief that every child is musical and capable of learning, with tailored experiences that allow each to grow at their own pace. 

2. Experiential learning – Students explore sounds and music through meaningful, hands-on experiences such as listening, performing, improvising, and creating. 

3. Multicultural and contextual – Introduce students to a wide range of music genres, styles, and traditions, including Singapore’s heritage and global cultures. 

4. Integrated development – Link music learning to 21st Century Competencies (21CC) and values education to support whole-child growth. 

5. Progressive and foundational – Provide structured opportunities that build from basic aural and expressive abilities towards deeper appreciation, skills, and possible future studies in music. 

6. Community and identity building – Use music as a medium to foster social cohesion, strengthen cultural identities, and contribute to the national cultural tapestry.
